Olja Savičević Ivančević appeared recently on the Croatian book scene as one of the few successful women writers and she already has fans, even outside Croatia (Germany, Slovenia)

Olja Savičević Ivančević

Olja Savičević Ivančević was born in Split in 1974.
She is a graduate in Croatian language and literatute, she is attending the final year of Master’s degree in literature and is a columnist for the newspaper Slobodna Dalmacija in Split.
She writes prose, poetry, literary essays and TV scenarios.
She edited the part referring to Croatia of the Short Story Anthology On the Third Square (Belgrade, 2006)
The author of three collections of poetry of which the first was published when she was fourteen year old.
Her book of short stories To Make a Dog Laugh (Zagreb, 2006) won the prize of Vijenac, the periodical for literature and cultural topics as well as the prize of the publishing house AGM as the best prose writer. The book has been published in German translation and this year it came out in Serbia.
Her poetry has been translated to English, French, Czech, Macedonian, Slovak, Slovenian and Polish language.
